Rekindled

In 2005, five-year-old Phoenix Sinclair was murdered on a cold basement floor in Fisher River Cree Nation. Her murder was a tragedy, but also a wake-up call to the inadequacies of child protection. Or was it? In Rekindled, we explore the circumstances of Phoenix's murder, including her disappearance, the discovery of her body, and the trial that put her killers away. But we also investigate what, if anything, has changed in child welfare since her death. Have the lessons lived on? Or do they need to be rekindled?
